Digalog Dynamometers

Labryinth Sealed Waterbrake Dynos

Waterbrake Dyno

The LW Series of labyrinth sealed waterbrake dynamometers provide a range of machines designed for precision testing of engines from 300kW to 6700kW capacity. High quality durable construction and Digalog's patented all electric control valve system gives the LW series the credentials to be used in a host of high accuracy testing applications.

Features

  • Labyrinth shaft seals for minimum friction and long life.
  • Digalog's patented high-speed inlet and outlet valve control technology ensures research quality control accuracy, stability and repeatability, the fastest possible response for dynamic tests and the minimum possible water usage.
  • Stabile operation across complete operating envelope.
  • Low inertia for fast response.
  • Unidirectional rotation for maximum low speed torque for a given size.
  • Compact construction.
  • Vertically split casing housing power absorbing elements.
  • Casing mounted in low friction deep groove ball trunnion bearings.
  • High accuracy strain-gauge load cell for torque measurement.
  • 60 tooth wheel and pulse pickup for accurate speed measurement.
  • High rigidity cast iron base incorporating inlet and outlet water connections.
  • 'O' Ring articulated pipe connections for minimum torque calibration effects from water supply pressure and flow variations.
  • Precision balanced high rigidity shaft assembly mounted in grease lubricated shaft bearings ensuring smooth operation.
  • 'Fail Safe' pulse output flow safety checks flow of cooling water against outlet blockage.

Waterbrake Control Valve

Waterbrake Dyno Valve

Combined inlet and outlet valves plus advanced controller technology provides control accuracy and range normally expected with eddy current dynamometers, but with faster response. Allows use of low cost, durable waterbrake dynamometers for high accuracy testing requirements. Controller technology simultaneously provides for theoretically maximum response speed and minimal water flow usage.

Features:

  • Cv>65.
  • Full stroke time < 50 msec. from 0% to 100% open.
  • Turn down ratio > 300:1; max flow: min flow.
  • Small signal response > 40 Hz; for 90 phase shift and -3db amplitude drop at + 5% FS deviation around 50% FS.
